Thomas Roide

AMFT

After studies in biological sciences, philosophy, theology, and acquiring an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pacific Oaks College, I have come to believe that at the core of our existence is relationship. This understanding is not only at the heart of systems’ theory, for which marriage and family therapy is founded, but also at the heart of how we exist each and every single day: the relationship we have within ourselves and those around us. When we improve our relational experiences, we find healing and renewal in life.

My approach to therapy is to help give you the tools and understanding in reconciling past experiences with present reality. And ultimately, to help you update and overcome obstacles in realizing the fullness of your relationships–with yourself and with others.

I have worked with clients who have experienced trauma, panic, anxiety, depression, grief, PTSD, Eating Disorders, Body Dysmorphia, body image issues, psychosis, substance use, and issues with self and others, especially surrounding perfectionism and self-esteem. I utilize approaches that are trauma-informed, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and that are solution-focused. With an overarching integration of family systems, I find a tailored approach that serves your particular needs, because we are our own persons who have lived unique experiences and circumstances.

I am eager to start walking with you on this journey of healing and integration.
