Background & About Me
Hey, I’m Josiah–therapist, dad, veteran, and lifelong learner. My path to becoming a therapist has been anything but traditional, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I grew up in a small town in Iowa, then spent nine years in the Navy, traveling to 49 states and deploying to Iraq with Marine Special Operations. After my military service, I began my own healing journey that has taken me through five years of deep personal work, reshaping my understanding of masculinity, emotional wellbeing, and what it means to truly take care of yourself. This experience led me to pursue my Master’s in Counseling Psychology, and ultimately, to a career where I get to help others navigate their own transformations.
I believe therapy should be honest, relatable, and rooted in real-life experiences. My approach blends practical tools with a deep respect for mind-body wellness, cultural identity, and the unique paths that shape us all.
When I’m not in session, you’ll find me enjoying time with my kids, exploring nature, reading books from all over the world, and making a difference in my community. I also love engaging in big-picture conversations about culture, history, and healing—something I bring to life through my TikTok and YouTube content.

What Clients Can Expect
Therapy is a journey, and I’m here to walk alongside you–not to “fix” you, but to help you build resilience, confidence, and a sense of balance that feels right for you. I believe in straight talk, deep reflection, and practical strategies you can actually use.
I’m also passionate about shifting cultural narratives–challenging outdated ideas of masculinity, exploring the lasting impact of colonization, and redefining what healing looks like across different identities and backgrounds. This work extends beyond the therapy room into my community outreach efforts through the organization I founded called Diversify Our Parks .
At the end of the day, my goal is simple: to help you feel more at home in yourself and your life. Let’s take this next step, together.
