Christina Carleton

My approach to therapy is one of person-centered care and collaboration to create a safe and non-judgmental space for people to be able to freely express their thoughts and feelings. My goal is to build a trusting therapeutic relationship in which you feel heard, seen, and accepted. Utilizing a strengths-based and solution-focused framework, I will collaborate with you to identify goals, develop skills, and challenge unhelpful thought patterns and beliefs. I am trained in a number of different evidence based approaches and will work with you to come up with a treatment plan that is tailor made to fit your needs.

I have experience working with both adults and children in therapeutic settings in community mental health clinics, intensive outpatient services, and integrated care management settings in both Los Angeles and San Diego.

I enjoy working with people of all ages, supporting them in identifying patterns and behaviors that are impacting their self-perception and interpersonal interactions. Helping young people work through challenges in their transition to adulthood is a passion of mine, as I aim to help them develop a stronger sense of self and navigate issues of seeking community and belonging. I am grateful to have extensive experience working with people of varying cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds who have experienced acute and complex trauma. I also enjoy and have experience providing therapy and support to members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Any positive change, no matter how small, can be challenging, but also very powerful. The most rewarding part of my job is being able to witness people overcome challenges and deep rooted fears, make positive changes, and improve self acceptance. I look forward to working with you.
