Michelle Balisi

Grounded in post-modern practice, I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who approaches the therapeutic journey from an empathic and collaborative perspective through conversations that embrace curiosity and exploration in a non-judgmental setting. I am LGBTQ+ and multicultural affirming, and I treat individuals, couples, families, and groups comprised of all ages.  I have a passion for serving diverse populations in the area of mental health wellness and specialize in working with those who experience relational issues, stress, trauma, life transitions, grief, loss, bereavement, mood disorders, alcohol and substance misuse and addiction, and co-occurring disorders.

I have been fortunate to serve underprivileged populations in Los Angeles County through organizations including St. Francis Center and Asian Pacific Women’s Center where homelessness, as a result of vicissitudes ranging from mental illness to surviving domestic violence, were prevalent. I was also fortunate to provide therapeutic services to families and their loved ones who were under the care of The Elizabeth Hospice in San Diego County.

I received a Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from Mount Saint Mary’s University, Los Angeles after working in the field of Human Resources for 12 years. I initially received Bachelors degrees in Psychology and Sociology from the University of California, Riverside, then my first Master of Science degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from California State University, San Bernardino.

True to my Sagittarian nature, I am enthusiastic, crave adventure, have a zest for life and all of its challenges, and I enjoy working alongside clients to help them discover unrecognized and hidden possibilities within themselves. It is an honor and privilege to be a part of this journey with you!
