I believe an authentic appreciation of the “whole” person is vital to the therapeutic healing process. Therapy can be a way to explore the unique aspects of our entire selves including our thoughts, feelings, behaviors, the mind/brain-body connection, and the unique values and core beliefs that guide each of our lives. Therapy can also provide a safe space to learn how to talk about and explore current patterns in your life that are no longer serving you, and find ways to cope, unearth meaning, and build a life truly worth living. I hope to be able to provide that space for you.
My practice includes working with older teens, adults, families, and couples. I utilize strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills, family systems, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help manage a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, adjustment to life changes, improving self-compassion, body image, and disordered eating. I also utilize Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and concepts from The 5-Love Languages to help couples improve communication, and build intimacy and empathy with their partners.
I have a sub-specialty in disordered eating behaviors and related issues, specifically binge eating, and body image concerns. If you are currently experiencing distress due to binge eating, or are in recovery from an eating disorder, I am here to help explore how to confront the unique challenges related to these types of issues in the context of who you are, with the goal of helping you discover your power, and find balance again
I commend you for taking your first steps on a new path to self-growth. I am grateful to be able to have the opportunity to work with you at WAVE therapy. I look forward to meeting, and collaborating with you on your journey.
